residence-based pension

A pension based on residence does not require that you work. You can be granted the pension simply because you live in that country.  You can get a pension from Kela if

  • you have lived in Finland for at least 3  years since you turned 16, and
  • your other pensions and benefits are below the income limit for the residence-based pension.

You can get a residence-based pension from abroad from

  • Australia,
  • Denmark
  • Iceland,
  • Israel,
  • the Netherlands,
  • Norway, and
  • Sweden.
