New Suomi.fi guide tells you what to do when a close family member dies

The new Suomi.fi guide ‘Death of a close family member’ guides you through the difficult process step by step. The Suomi.fi web service is provided by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

The guide offers clear advice on things you need to do when your close family member dies – for example, how to arrange the funeral, organise the estate inventory, arrange financial matters or deal with the grief. At the beginning of the guide, there are a few preliminary questions. When you answer them, you get more detailed advice on issues that apply to your situation.

Contents relating to the survivors’ pensions have been produced by the Finnish Centre for Pensions which is part of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency’s network of partners. The survivors’ pensions are the surviving spouse’s pension and the orphan’s pension.

Use the survivors’ pension calculator to estimate the amount of your surviving spouse’s pension and the orphan’s pension. It also includes a tool that helps you determine whether you are entitled to the surviving spouse’s pension and for how long.
