Average pension in Finland in 2025: €2,138 euros

The average monthly pension of Finns was 2,138 euros in 2025. In 2024, it was 2,138 euros. Women received an average monthly pension of 1,930 euros and men of 2,388 euros.

For just over half, the pension was less than 2,000 euros per month. From a gender perspective, 62 per cent of the women and 46 per cent of the men received a monthly pension of less than 2,000 euros.

Few pensioners who reside in Finland get a monthly gross pension of more than 4,000 euros. In 2025, around 10 per cent of the men and 3 per cent of the women received a monthly pension of more than 4,000 euros.

More than 1 per cent of pensioners in Finland had a monthly pension of over 6,000 euros. Most of them were men.

Highest pensions in the capital area

 The highest average monthly pensions were paid in Uusimaa. The smallest average monthly pensions were paid in Southern Pohjanmaa.

Earnings-related pensions and pensions paid by Kela totalled 39.8 billion euros

 In 2025, earnings-related pensions and pension paid by Kela amounted to 39.8 billion euros. Earnings-related pension providers paid out 37.2 billion euros in earnings-related pensions. Kela paid national and guarantee pensions to the amount of 2.6 billion euros.

What does the average pension mean?

 The average pension depicts the average total pension of recipients residing in Finland. The pension benefits included are earnings-related pensions, national pensions, special provision pensions comparable to them, and the guarantee pension.

  • The data exclude persons who get a partial old-age pension or only a survivors’ pension.
  • The pension income is in gross amounts.
  • The data are based on joint statistics of the Finnish Centre for Pensions and Kela.
