Basic amount

Previously a basic amount was always paid to the national pension, regardless of the other pensions. From the beginning of 1997 the basic amount and the additional amount were combined into a single national pension, which is reduced by other pensions.

For persons who received only the basic amount, the basic amount was being reduced as of 1 January 1996. This reduction was continued until 1 January 2001, when payment of the former basic amount ceased altogether.
