General information on the scheme, its history and pension insurance

This section contains general information about the earnings-related pension scheme. This includes news and descriptions of the principles of the scheme and of its origins four decades ago.

One special feature of the Finnish earnings-related pension scheme is its administrative structure: private-sector pension insurance companies, company pension funds and industry-wide pension funds handle statutory pension provision. In addition there are pension providers for certain industries. The organisation of the scheme is described in this section.

The role of the labour market organisations is important, because in that way a connection to working life and the needs there can be maintained.
